Casual Games Makes It Into The Sony PS3

In the new millennium, with the proliferation of the Internet, online gaming has rapidly grown in popularity around the world. Children and adults alike spend an ever-growing amount of time on their computers playing games, seeking recreation and relaxation. There are many companies that create these games and have been enjoying phenomenal success as a result of this trend.

As we embark on 2008, a new trend is taking shape in the online gaming world. Online games are crossing over to video game consoles. Gaming consoles such as the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 are offering new features that allow their users to download games that were previously “online only”. This trend is on its tipping point and we are soon going to see a phenomenal growth in the console gaming field as a result. Arcade games have gone from being available only at local malls, to the computer and now finally to the home console.

Playstation 3 offers this online service for free, while Xbox 360 charges a fee of $50 annually. This allows their users to download content online for their consoles. Playstation’s offer may only be an introductory offer and once this trend is established, I expect them to monetize on this as well by charging some sort of subscription based fee. What’s go great about this is that, the once expensive gaming console games are now almost available for free. Whenever users want a change, all they do is surf the Internet, download new games and plug it into their consoles. They are now watching enhanced graphics on a big-screen plasma of LCD TV and trust me, the experience is way better than online. I foresee a lot of couch-potato behavior happening as a result of this trend!

Experts in the industry opine that enhanced graphic capabilities of online games have really leveled the field between console games and online games. Only a few years ago, there was a very significant difference in the visual experience between online and console games. Broadband proliferation and bandwidth availability was not strong enough to let online gamers get crazy with heavy graphics. Not anymore. The growing Internet usage and ever-increasing speeds have made online games just as good as console games, which is certainly the underlying cause for this trend.

This trend appears to be here to stay. Leading game creators such as JenkatGames dot com and BigFishGames dot com are releasing newer fun-filled games on a regular basis and the demand still keeps going up. It will not be long before all of your favorite console games will be ported over online and directly available for download to your console. With all of the gaming machines now online, and that too at high speeds, if you think online gaming was child’s play, well, think again!

Tips To Download Free PSP Video

Watching movies or video on your Portable Play Station is not a new thing anymore, but it is very useful especially as it allows you can kill your time when you are traveling or when you are bored. To fill of those contents on your beloved Sony game console, you need to spend top dollars for each movie or TV show episode. As a matter of fact, today you can get them for free on the internet. Downloading free PSP video is not necessarily a good thing.

  • You spend a lot of time searching for those videos, waiting for the download to finish, and you have to convert them if the video formats are not readable.
  • Video quality is not always good
  • You are risking your computer and your console, why? Some of the files you download may contain viruses or spyware that can damage your game console and PC.

Considering all of those aspects, you know there should be a better way to do this. There are certain websites that allow us to download all PSP contents including readily converted videos, which mean that all the videos are already in MP4 format that is supported by PSP. So we do not have to spend too much time to convert all downloaded files.

But there are some websites that offer us, the PSP fanatics, their service. As their member, You can download all high quality videos very fast and safely. Unfortunately, those sites require you to pay. Most of the PSP users choose to pay, the reasons are because:

  • They pay less than $40 (one time fee) for unlimited download
  • They are given access to more than 20 millions files directory that includes games, videos, emulators, music, and popular to unpopular software
  • They can chat with the support whenever they are having problems with their console. It is very depressing sometimes trying to translate the error codes and fix the errors.

Many users claimed that this is the exact way to download free PSP video regardless the price they paid. They, including me, think that the value is much greater compared to the one time price.

I bet you also want to save your time and never have to worry about spyware/viruses, right? Visit download free PSP video to find out which is the best PSP download center available on the net.

Customize Your Online Character with Halo 3 Armor

A new and exciting feature for Halo gamers is the new Halo 3 Armor, it allows the gamers’ to be able to customize their online character’s to better express themselves, or just to make their character look really cool. There are two different characterss that gamers can choose from, they can either be the UNSC SPARTAN-II, better known as Master Chief or they can play as a Covenant Elite. These new armor permutations can either be unlocked when the gamer finishes certain accomplishments that can either be found in the campaign side of the game or during the multiplayer side of the game.

Now since there are two different character’s that the gamer can choose from, means that there are different armor permutations that can be chosen from. Take for example if the gamer chooses to play as the Covenant Elite. Now since not as many gamers’ generally play as an Elite character, there aren’t as many different Halo 3 armor permutations as there are for the gamer who plays as Master Chief. There are however 625 different permutations that can be chosen from. So the gamer that plays as an Elite character can choose from 5 helmets, 5 shoulder pieces and 5 chest pieces. For their character they will be able to have 1 helmet, 2 shoulder pieces and a chest pieces for their character.

Now if the gamer was going to play as the UNSC SPARTAN-II or A. K. A. Master Chief, then the gamer actually have 6,144 different armor permutations to choose from, the reason for the higher number is again due to the fact that gamers tend to play as Master Chief over an Elite character. Like the Elite character the character can choose from 11 helmets, 8 shoulder pieces and 8 chest pieces, but they can choose a combo of 1 helmet, two shoulder pieces and 1 chest piece.

There are a few different ways that a gamer can unlock these Halo 3 armor permutations. Some armor pieces may already be unlocked by default for both characters, however other pieces will be unlocked in different ways. You can unlock armor by beating the campaign in either the Heroic difficulty or the Legendary difficulty. Other pieces of armor can be unlocked by completely achievements throughout the game.

The Top 10 Greatest Classic Arcade Games of All Time

Having a “best of” list always leads to arguments. Especially when discussing something like video games. Everybody has their favorites and their as loyal to them as a dog is to its master. For this list, I am strictly just referring to pre-1990. This should be the definition of classic arcade gaming. It’s just like 60s rock n roll: They transformed oldies into classic rock. The 80s should go down as the most important in video game history.

So with that being said here is my very unofficial (it changes everyday) top 10 best classic arcade games of all time are:

No. 10) Pac-Man- The originator. The video game that even your grandmother heard of.

No. 9) Donkey Kong- Introduced the world to Mario. That alone should make it an institution.

No. 8) Burgertime- The song by itself was worth the quarter it cost to play.

No. 7) Ghosts N Goblins- A game way ahead of its time. Added ambiance to the world of gaming.

No. 6) Outrun- The original car game. There’s been car games before and since. But this one is king. It has yet to be duplicated.

No. 5) Road Blasters- What’s better than a driving game? A driving game where you can shoot cars.

No. 4) Track and Field- The first ever button masher. Nearly lost an index finger to this one.

No. 3) Gauntlet- The cabinet was HUGE!! First game I ever saw where 4 players could play. To an 8 year old, it looked like a mini-cathedral.

No. 2) Contra- Before First person shooters ruled the gaming world, this was the shooter that everyone lined up for. The NES version got more credit, but if it wasn’t for the 30 lives code, the arcade version was far superior.

No. 1) Double Dragon- The only 80s arcade game that I have ever played where at times I couldn’t put a quarter in the slot because the machine was full.

Want to take a step back into gaming past? Take a trip down memory lane and show appreciation for this amazing time in video game history. You’ll find tons of arcade game reviews, movies, and all sorts of cool stuff on video game arcades.

Are Home Consoles Killing Arcades?

It’s hard to picture it right now, but there was a time in which arcade games destroyed their console competition.

As incredible as the 8-bit NES Console and the 16-bit Sega Genesis system were, they could not compete to their arcade counterparts. You can look at any game that was featured on both the consoles and the arcades to see for yourself..

Compare famous arcade games like Donkey Kong, Double Dragon, Shinobi, and all the other classics of that time to their NES versions. It’s pretty obvious which ones were more powerful than the other.

No matter how much the consoles had grown, it still couldn’t catch up to the gaming experience that the arcades provided. Even when extraordinary computer games came out like Doom or Half-Life, they still didn’t have the graphical and audio power of “Time Crisis” at your local arcade.

Somewhere along the lines, things have changed. It really became obvious when the past “next-gen” consoles (XBOX, PS2) came out. It was first time people could unequivocally say that home video games could compete with arcades. The sounds and graphics were razor sharp.

The popularity in arcades had been dropping previous to that time, but this was one might have been the last nail on the coffin.

Add that to the fact, that the days of 25 cent games have been dead for quite a while. It used to be that you could just walk into an arcade with $5 and you knew your afternoon was set. But due to the higher cost of games, arcade owners needed to be somehow be reimbursed at a faster rate than ever before. So the newer games cost 50 cents, 75 cents, 1 dollar per play.

People, now could get that similar experience at home without having to pay for each play. Gamers just stopped spending hours on end (some used to live there!) at arcades. Now they could just get their kicks by lying on the couch.

Now, with the latest invasion of the next-gen consoles (XBOX 360, PS3, Wii) playing in arcades seems like a prehistoric experience.

With the Nintendo Wii’s ability for a gamer to interact with the game just by my moving their hands and arm, it stole the last original characteristic of the arcade games. These used to be the kind of innovations you only saw in an arcade machine: The ability to play with more than just a basic joystick and buttons.

It’s really a shame something like this has happened. As much as I loved my NES, I remember more about the days where my dad would drive me and my friends to the local arcade. The place was like a cathedral for us.

We would spend all morning and afternoon there. Our eyes would be completely bloodshot and our ears would still be ringing from spending hours listening to loud computerized noises. But it was a blast.

Will it ever get back to that point? It’s certainly not looking good right now. It’s actually gotten so bad that arcades are slowing down in Japan, This is really frightening because Japan is like the Las Vegas of arcades. The games might not be played in the traditional American way, but they are arcades nevertheless. The Nintendo Wii has had an obvious influence over there.

I know there must still be a market for arcades, and I for one, hope there can be someone who comes up with that magical formula.

I cant wait for the day when everybody get back to playing video games the way they used to be: In a loud room with pizza stained joysticks.

Are you as big of fan of these classic video games as I am? Do you wish they were as popular as they once were? Then check out ClassicArcadeStore.com to get your classic gaming fix. You’ll find thousands of listings on all the greatest arcade games of all time
